5 Guarantee ways to keep those Resolutions!

 

  1. Take small steps. Too much too soon can create burn out. Set small goals weekly then you can progress each week or even bi-weekly. This helps whether your goal is to exercise more or eat out less.

2. Focus on your accomplishments, not your failures. Making change is already hard enough, but do not beat yourself up when you don’t quite meet your goal. If you wanted to lose 10 pounds in 3 months and you lost 7, celebrate the fact that you made progress towards your goal. Learn from your mistakes and make the necessary changes to continue to work towards your goal.

3. Get Support. Some of us want to do everything on our own, and that is fine. However, sometimes we can reach our goals if we surround ourselves with those on the same mission as us. If we want to go to the gym, get a gym buddy that holds you accountable. If you want to spend more time reading, join a book club that will help reach that goal.

4. Learn from past mistakes. Say you find yourself setting the same goal every year, and every year you give up 2 months in. This may take some time to reflect on. Figure out what worked out for you in the past that made you feel like you were making progress. Then take note of the things that you cut corners on or felt like they just weren’t working for you and try to come up with a new plan.

5. Another thing you can do to stay on track is Post your Progress on Social media. It will keep you accountable, people can cheer you on, and you may inspire someone else while you are on your journey.
